Elea Data Centers Appoints Fernando Madureira as New Director of Engineering Design & Expansion

With more than 30 years of experience leading major IT infrastructure projects for Big Tech companies across Latin America, Madureira joins Elea’s leadership team to drive large-scale initiatives such as Rio AI City

Elea Data Centers, Brazil’s leading sustainable digital infrastructure platform and the first to deploy Artificial Intelligence at scale in Latin America, announced the appointment of Fernando Madureira as its new Director of Engineering Design & Expansion.

Madureira brings more than three decades of experience in mission-critical engineering and infrastructure, including ten years as an executive at Deerns. Over the course of his career, he has led some of the largest hyperscale data center projects in the region, earning recognition for his technical expertise and leadership in complex builds.

Reporting directly to Philippe Vivia, Chief Operations Officer (COO), Madureira will oversee Elea’s design and infrastructure development areas.

“Fernando’s deep experience in the design and construction of hyperscale data centers across Latin America will be instrumental as we execute our ambitious expansion plans and maintain the highest standards of quality and performance,” said Vivia, who oversees key verticals including Construction and Operations.

Madureira joins Elea at a pivotal moment, as the company advances the construction of Rio AI City, a visionary IA and cloud data center campus designed to reach 3.2 GW of total capacity within Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Park.

“Fernando is an exceptional professional who combines strong technical acumen with a strategic, long-term business vision grounded in sustainability—qualities that align perfectly with the scale and ambition of our current and future projects,” said Alessandro Lombardi, Chairman of Elea.

In addition to his new role at Elea, Madureira serves as Technical Director of the Brazilian Data Center Association (ABDC), where he contributes to shaping national standards and policies for the IT infrastructure sector.
