Elea Data Centers Reports Significant Progress in Sustainability, Diversity, and Resilience in 2024 Report
Company surpasses environmental and social targets, reinforcing its role as critical infrastructure in Brazil

Elea Data Centers has just released the results of its 2024 Sustainability Report, reaffirming its commitment to building digital infrastructure that is sustainable, resilient, and aligned with leading ESG practices. The year’s achievements consolidate Elea’s position as an industry benchmark, with results that exceeded several established targets ahead of schedule.
On the environmental front, the company achieved a 22.3% reduction in total CO₂ equivalent emissions, a direct result of operational efficiency and the adoption of sustainable practices, particularly the reduction of fugitive emissions and emissions associated with travel and commuting. Elea’s emissions inventory was awarded the Gold Seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, which certifies complete and third-party audited inventories in accordance with ISO 14064.
The company also delivered a strong performance in water management goals. Elea achieved a Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) index of 0.07 liters per kWh, far surpassing its target of 0.20 for 2026 and 0.18 for 2028. This result places the company among the most efficient in the world in terms of water resource use in the data center sector.
“When it comes to the environment and operational safety, our management is designed not only to ensure compliance, but to exceed our standards continuously. These results are the outcome of daily, integrated, and collaborative work that brings together governance, technology, and care for people and the environment,” said Cora Nogueira, ESG and Real Estate Manager at Elea Data Centers.
In the social category, noteworthy progress was made in promoting diversity. Currently, more than 53% of leadership positions are held by professionals from diverse backgrounds, surpassing the 40% target set for 2026. Women now hold 30.65% of leadership roles, achieving the 30% goal for the same period. Additionally, the representation of other diverse groups reached 22.58%—more than double the initial target of 10%.
The report also highlights Elea’s role during the most severe climate crisis ever recorded in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. During the May 2024 floods, the POA1 facility remained fully operational, ensuring the continuity of critical services for power utilities, hospitals, telecom operators, and financial institutions. The successful operation, which included logistical and humanitarian support, earned Elea both the DCD Global Awards and DCD LATAM Awards in the Operation Team of the Year category in 2024, recognizing the company’s resilience and leadership in critical situations.
According to Marco Girardi, CFO of Elea Data Centers, the company’s operational and sustainability results are closely tied to its core strategy and reflect a commitment that is also personal. “The 2024 results reflect our dedication to sustainable digital infrastructure aligned with the country’s needs. More than just targets, social and environmental matters have been part of my journey since my student days, and for that reason, it is especially fulfilling to carry these values forward at Elea Data Centers. We will continue to move forward — investing in technology, but also in diversity and responsible practices — to generate lasting value for society.”
