Elea Data Centers and Antel Form Partnership for International Route
Uruguayan operator joins Elea’s network of providers to expand connectivity in Southern Brazil

Elea Data Centers, a sustainable data center platform with the most extensive geographic distribution in Brazil, has added Antel to its POA1 site in Porto Alegre (RS). The partnership establishes an international connection route to Antel’s submarine cable, strengthening Rio Grande do Sul’s capital as a strategic digital traffic hub in the Southern Cone.
Antel’s integration into Elea’s data center expands the company’s connectivity ecosystem, which remains a neutral and distributed platform, with nine data centers across five regions of the country. With this addition, Elea now offers a new international route that connects Rio Grande do Sul directly to Punta del Este, Uruguay — the landing point for Antel’s submarine cable, which links Brazil to multiple international cables and major cities across South America. This fully independent route complements Brazil’s existing international exit options, providing greater stability, lower latency, and high performance for operations that require international traffic.
“Antel’s presence marks an important step in building a stronger, more connected digital infrastructure for Brazil and the entire Southern Cone region. By integrating this international route into our neutral platform, we offer another strategic option while maintaining our technological neutrality and ensuring our clients can choose the best connectivity solution from within our ecosystem,” said Gustavo Pereira, CTO of Elea Data Centers.
“The integration of the POA1 data center strategically strengthens Antel’s presence in Rio Grande do Sul. With this new site, we now have seven points of presence in the state, all connected to our infrastructure in Brazil and across the region. From POA1, as with our other locations, we offer exclusive routes with direct access to the seven submarine cables we operate, connecting the main cities across the Americas,” said Fernando López Rodriguez, Manager at Antel Brazil.
Antel’s route, which enters Brazil through the southern border, connects directly to POA1 and from there integrates into Elea’s national network, reaching São Paulo and other major hubs across the continent. This integration expands the options for companies operating in southern Brazil that desire alternative and resilient digital service routes.
This initiative aligns with Elea’s strategy to expand a modern and distributed digital infrastructure throughout Brazil — the same vision behind the recently announced Rio AI City, a project designed and developed by the company in Rio de Janeiro. Located in the Olympic Park area, a strategic hub for connectivity, energy, and logistics, the complex is already connected to the city’s urban network, including the submarine cable hub and local connectivity infrastructure.
